Their original tweet about overdosing is still up and active at the time of publication and no apologies have been issued. Performers and industry members started publicly calling out Str8Up for the insensitive tweet, but the blog doubled down on its stance.
The tweet was immediately criticized for “wishing death upon a group of people.” Many agreed that while they don’t endorse having house parties during a pandemic, the party-goers don’t deserve to die because of it. “Hopefully they’ll all die from an overdose before they have a chance to infect anyone.”
